Erik Furlan joined the Maryland Chamber of Commerce in July of 2015 as the social media specialist. Furlan brings more than 15 years of communications and interactive/social media experience to the Chamber, working previously as the social media marketing specialist/insurance & benefits broker at The Canton Agency in Forest Hill, Maryland, and the social media assistant with Hahler.com and as a contract worker on MOBroadbandNow, a Missouri organization where he researched, designed and created collateral to expand the broadband education and awareness elements of that program. He also owned his own social media consulting company, The iMedia Playbook.
Furlan has also worked as a new media/PR intern with the Washington Freedom, a duplication associate/library assistant/production assistant with NASCAR Media Group (formerly NASCAR Images) in Charlotte, North Carolina, and as a clerk reporter for The Charlotte Observer's Gaston bureau.
A native Marylander, Furlan brings to the Chamber a unique skill set, one that blends traditional media with new, interactive and social media. Furlan looks to leverage that skill set in helping the Chamber spread its messaging and advocacy efforts as the leading voice for business in Maryland.
Furlan holds an M.A. in interactive Media and a B.A. in Journalism & Comunications–Broadcast from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina.
