Committees and Task Forces

The Chamber's subject matter committees bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the Chamber's legislative efforts. These committees help guide the Chamber's agenda for subjects ranging from health care to civil liability and business law. Business Development Council – Helps members grow their businesses through opportunities to network and develop stronger business skills through education and business resource connections.

Civil Liability Committee– Helps preserve Maryland's fair and predictable laws governing tort liability as an essential part of Maryland’s business climate.
Chair: Jack Andryszak of Popham & Andryszak, P.A; Staff: Ron Wineholt

Employment Issues Committee – Works in partnership with employers, legislators, State agency officials (such as DLLR and the Workers’ Compensation Commission), independent research groups, and other stakeholders on wage and pay, unemployment insurance, employee benefits, workers’ compensation, discrimination, collective bargaining agreements/union-management issues, and other employment issues for the purpose of advocating positive legislative and regulatory outcomes on behalf of the business community.

Environment Committee – Works in partnership with employers, legislators, State environment officials, and other environmental stakeholders on air, water, and land resource legislation/regulations that foster both a competitive business-friendly environment with a healthy quality of life for all Marylanders.

Finance Committee – Reviews financial and audit materials of the Chamber and works with staff to ensure sound financial management practices.

Health Care Committee – Works with employers, legislators, regulators and health care providers to improve Maryland’s current market-based health care system to control costs and improve access for those who cannot afford coverage.
Chair: Bill Chambers of Showplace Arena; Staff: Ron Wineholt

Legislative Committee By invitation only, meets weekly during the General Assembly session to develop positions on legislation affecting the business community. When the General Assembly is not in session, the committee meets periodically to monitor events that are of importance and develops strategies for the legislative session. Chair: Drew Cobbs of Maryland Petroleum Council; Staff: Ron Wineholt

Marketing Committee – Develop marketing strategies to increase awareness of the Maryland Chamber, its advocacy program, and membership growth efforts.
Chair: Andrew Rose of Naden/Lean, Staff: Will Burns

Membership Committee – Establishes new and retained membership goals and develops strategic plans, including membership campaigns, to achieve them. Also develops membership services, benefits and events to meet member needs and interests.

Tax Policy Committee – Works to strengthen the state’s competitive tax climate to help attract and retain businesses, workers, and investment.

Transportation Coalition – Coordinates a broad-based coalition of businesses, trade groups, and associations to advance balanced short and long-term solutions to state-wide transportation and transit needs.
