BGE’s economic impact? Over $5B
According to the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB), Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), during 2015 (in their service area):
- had an economic impact of approximately $5 billion of output
- supported over 9,500 jobs
- produced over $920 million in labor income.
For this report, the EAGB examined BGE’s 2015 general operations, measuring the direct, indirect and induced economic impact of the company. While examining the 2015 data, the EAGB noted that BGE’s charitable giving and continuing energy management programs also had a positive economic impact.
With 3,200 employees, BGE is one of the 25 largest private employers in the state.
