With the release of the Augustine Commission report earlier this month, Maryland Chamber of Commerce staff and members met with Senate President Thomas V. ‘Mike’ Miller on February 11, 2016 to discuss the recommendations from the report.
The Maryland Chamber began with thanking both Senate President Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch for their leadership in assembling the Augustine Commission (officially known as the Maryland Economic Development and Business Climate Commission).
Also during the meeting, it was noted that several of the Chamber’s recommendations were included in the final report. Last fall, the Chamber and its tax policy committee chairs testified before the commission, making several recommendations on how to improve Maryland’s tax environment.

In closing, Senate President Miller laid out all of the Augustine Commission’s legislative recommendations and the Chamber offered its support, working to improve the tax environment and the business climate in Maryland.
