Chamber Staff, Members Meet with House Speaker Busch

With hearings on legislation incorporating some of the Augustine Commission’s recommendations approaching, Maryland Chamber of Commerce staff and members met with House Speaker Michael Busch on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The Chamber sought the Speaker Busch’s priorities from the Augustine Commission report on business taxes, with the Speaker indicating support for single sales factor, albeit with several industries seeking exemptions.  The Chamber provided Speaker Busch with its amendments for the telecommunications industry and Lockheed Martin.

Discussion continued, going over the Chamber’s position on multiple tax bills, including single sales factor, corporate income tax and tax relief for pass-through entities.

Present at the meeting were: Steve Banks of T. Rowe Price, Loren Pearl of UnderArmour, Karen Syrylo of The Altus Group, John Bohanan and Kathy Snyder, Maryland Chamber Interim President/CEO.
