Developing cybersecurity leaders by day, combating opioids by night

Maryland Chamber of Commerce members are in the news every day making great strides. Whether they are expanding into new territories, receiving honors, or giving back within the communities they serve, they set the bar for success. Here’s a look at what they have been up to over the past few weeks:


EXPANSIONS

Miles & Stockbridge

Miles & Stockbridge moved it’s Washington, D.C. office to prepare for additional hires. The new space will be able to accommodate almost double the number of employees, including 55 lawyers. Get more details on the expansion.

Offit Kurman

“Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that the attorneys of Schreibstein and Tucker have agreed to join Offit Kurman’s Howard County office.” See what experience the new attorneys will bring to the team here.

University of Baltimore

The University of Baltimore plans to expand its offerings to include a cybersecurity management master’s program focused on developing cybersecurity leaders. Read more on what this new program will entail.


GOOD WORK

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is doing its part in combating opioids. The region’s largest health insurer has awarded  about $2.1 million to 11 community health organizations working to help those with substance addiction and opioid abuse in Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. TEDCO

TEDCO has created the Builder Fund, in order to eliminate funding bias and close the investment gap in Maryland. This program will “offer operational guidance and financial support to Maryland startups founded by socially or economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs.” Read more details about this program.

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland is using a new web platform to help students decide what career paths to pursue, based on their ambitions. Read more about how this nonprofit is aiding in career readiness.
