Ellin & Tucker announced that Mary E.C. Read, CPA, has been named a principal of the firm. As part of her new role, Read is tasked with growing the firm’s international tax expertise and managing corporate clients with sophisticated tax planning and tax compliance needs. The hiring is supportive of Ellin & Tucker’s strategic plan to augment its international tax services and meet a growing client demand.
“We’re seeing more and more of our corporate clients successfully expanding their businesses globally, which means inevitably, they develop an increased need for complex international taxation work,” said Ed Brake, managing director of Ellin & Tucker. “Mary’s deep knowledge of the global tax world, her proven ability to lead and her sharp wit and business mind match up perfectly with what we need to even more effectively serve our clients’ ever-changing tax and compliance needs.”
Read’s accounting and tax experience spans 20 years. She has been involved in all aspects of accounting including everything from audits and review to income tax returns for entities. Prior to her current role at Ellin & Tucker, Read worked at Grant Thornton as director of tax services for nearly 10 years, concentrating on international taxation and tax minimization planning, multi-state taxation planning and compliance and small business issues. For six years prior to that, Read worked at Ellin & Tucker as a tax accountant handling significant accounting and tax preparation for some of the firm’s largest clients.
