The Maryland Chamber Foundation is honored to host the statewide 2023 National Civics Bee competition on June 10, 2023 at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Organized in partnership with the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s The Civic Trust and supported by six local chambers of commerce across Maryland, the National Civics Bee is an annual competition that encourages middle school students from public, private, charter and home schools to engage in civics, contribute to their communities and flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes.

How the competition works:

In the first round of the contest, local 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will participate in a local essay competition hosted by one of the six participating local chambers of commerce. Judges will then select 20 finalists to participate in the live local Civics Bee competition. Then, the top 3 students from each of Maryland’s local competition will advance to the Maryland statewide competition which will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland.
