Complying with Maryland’s New Employment Laws

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Shawe Rosenthal LLP will be holding a complimentary webinar on Thursday, April 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Chamber’s Government Affairs Associate Maddy Voytek will give a brief overview of this particularly challenging General Assembly session, and Shawe Rosenthal attorneys Fiona W. Ong and Parker E. Thoeni will explain the obligations of and provide guidance on compliance with Maryland’s new employment laws, including:

  • The creation of a paid family leave program
  • An expanded definition of illegal harassment
  • An extension of the statute of limitations for employment discrimination and harassment claims
  • Reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities
  • The possibility of recreational marijuana
  • Revisions to Maryland’s Personal Information Protection law, and
  • Juneteenth as a new State holiday
