As a teacher, the most rewarding moments are when I see “light bulbs” go off for one of my students who begins thinking differently or feeling encouraged for the future. In my role teaching career and college development as well as personal finance and economic theory at Parkville High School in Baltimore County, I try to make a difference for the community and for future generations.

In depth | Rise to the challenge: KCI through a counselor’s eyes

Emily Dewlin is the College and Career Counselor at Dundalk High School, a Baltimore County Public School, and spent four weeks this summer as a Teacher Extern at KCI Technologies. She dove deep into the experience, chronicling her journey with a daily blog post. From field work with environmental scientists to interviewing the administrative team, Emily thoughtfully reflects on her take aways and how her students can benefit from her experience.

“I want to especially thank the KCI leaders who took me out on site visits so I could get a first-hand look, some hands-on experiences, and the opportunity to talk with the KCI employees working out in the field,” said Emily.
