For more than 50 years, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce has served as the leading voice of Maryland’s business community, advocating for strong public policy to ensure future economic growth for Maryland businesses, employees and families.
Today, we stand strong as Maryland’s only statewide business advocacy organization, working together with our 6,400+ members, alliance of partners, and state legislators on critical public policy issues that directly affect Maryland’s job creators and economy.
As we look to the future, we are energized by what’s ahead. We are deeply committed to the success of our great state, to the vibrant communities that make Maryland so unique, and to the residents that live and raise their families here.
That’s why we are so proud to introduce our new mission, updated to reflect our commitment to Maryland, and present our new strategic plan, which will guide our strategy and work for the next three years.
Created in partnership with our Board of Directors, members and staff, these bold plans build upon what has been working while introducing new ambitions aimed at making Maryland work better for business. When our economy is thriving, our communities thrive, and that is our vision moving forward.
Importantly, this plan also highlights our focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe, no matter the industry, that diversity, equity and inclusion are business imperatives. Greater diversity benefits Maryland’s economy, businesses, communities and employees, and in the months and years ahead, we will be listening, learning and taking proactive steps to make Maryland more inclusive for all.
The mission of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce is to advance inclusive partnerships for a Maryland where all businesses and their communities thrive.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement
At the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, our mission is to advance inclusive partnerships for a Maryland where all businesses and their communities thrive. We believe that no matter the industry, diversity, equity and inclusion are business imperatives. Greater diversity benefits Maryland’s economy, businesses, communities and employees.
To engage more fully in the complex challenges surrounding equity, we are prepared to listen, learn and take proactive steps toward meaningful change in the workplace and in our communities. We will continue to facilitate conversations among business and innovation leaders in the DEI space so that together we can make Maryland more inclusive for all.
Pillars of Our Strategic Plan
Our strategic plan encompasses our organization’s three entities: The Maryland Chamber of Commerce, The Maryland Chamber Foundation, and the Maryland Chamber PAC.
The plan places advocacy, inclusive partnerships and our Foundation at the forefront, but also introduces new goals promoting operational excellence and revitalizing our long dormant PAC.
The following six tactical goals are what we are setting out to achieve over the next three years:
Thanks to the relationships and partnerships we continue to build, we proudly have a seat at the table for important conversations about critical issues affecting the business community. The work we have ahead of us will help ensure that the voices of Maryland’s job creators continue to be heard, and that policies and decisions being made help contribute to a Maryland where all businesses and their communities thrive.
