Maryland Chamber of Commerce to Induct Three into Maryland Business Hall of Fame

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Each year, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce inducts outstanding business leaders into its Maryland Business Hall of Fame. These are individuals who have made, or are making, significant and lasting contributions to Maryland’s business environment. Inductees for 2016 are: Dr. Leslie Mancuso, President and CEO, Jhpiego; Kenneth Michael, Chairman, NAI Michael; and Terry F. Neimeyer, Chairman and CEO, KCI Technologies, Inc. Inductees will be honored at a dinner and award ceremony on May 10, 2016 beginning at 5:30 pm at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport in Linthicum Heights.

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce began honoring individuals who demonstrate excellence in business management, entrepreneurial and courageous thinking and action, inspiring leadership and community impact in 2000. It has honored 47 inductees to date. “These are leaders who are who have demonstrated tenacity, vision and passion in achieving their mission. Their actions compel others,” said Maryland Chamber of Commerce Interim CEO Kathleen T. Snyder.  “It is a great honor to have such tremendous partners and the Chamber’s distinct pleasure to highlight the contributions of these individuals within our community.”

Additional information about the honorees:

Leslie Mancuso, PhD, RN, FAAN
President and Chief Executive Officer, Jhpiego

Dr. Leslie Mancuso is the President and CEO of Jhpiego, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. For 42 years and in over 150 countries, Jhpiego has worked with front-line health workers to design and implement low-cost, innovative solutions to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Since Dr. Mancuso’s arrival at Jhpiego in 2002, the organization’s budget has grown from $5 million to $310 million and the number of programs has expanded from 4 to 110.

Dr. Mancuso, a nurse and American Academy of Nursing Fellow, has more than 25 years of experience in developing relationships with international agencies, foreign governments, nursing, midwifery and medical professional associations and building public-private partnerships. She has received many prestigious business and professional awards including the Regional Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Maryland International Business Leadership Award from the World Trade Center Institute and, under her leadership, Jhpiego received the 2014 United Nations Population Award as well as the 2014 CLASSY Award for Health.

Kenneth H. Michael
Chairman of the Board of NAI The Michael Companies, Inc.

As a licensed real estate broker in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., Kenneth H. Michael has established a stellar reputation over 43 years as an experienced leader in real estate sales, leasing, management, marketing, development consulting and construction in the Washington Metropolitan market.

Having represented hundreds of companies and individuals, The Michael Companies has the expertise to oversee a project from its idea stage to final completion.  Michael has developed over 10,000 acres of land for various owners in all zoning categories and has been involved as a consultant in commercial and industrial projects which now include over 12 million square feet of gross building area.

Michael is a member and former director of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, a member of the National Association of Realtors, a former director of the Maryland Economic Development Corporation, a member of the Suburban Maryland Homebuilders Association and a former director of the University of Maryland Chancellors Advisory Council.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Public Administration from the University of Maryland.  He has also been in the United States Air Force and spent time at American University for Advanced Studies in Real Estate.

Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, BCEE, FACEC, ENV PL
CEO and Chairman of the Board, KCI Technologies

Terry F. Neimeyer joined KCI in 1977 after graduating from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Neimeyer has held multiple leadership roles for KCI, among them chief engineer of civil engineering operations in Maryland and North Carolina.  Neimeyer served as President of KCI from December 1995 until June 2006. Neimeyer has been chief executive officer since March 1999 and chairman of the board since December 2000.

Neimeyer is a past chairman of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and president of XL Insurance Design Professional Risk Control Group. Neimeyer currently sits on the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Neimeyer earned a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1980, and an M.B.A. from Wilmington College in 1985.
