Maryland Small Business Exchange Website Delayed Again

The Maryland Health Benefits Exchange Board has once again delayed the website launch of the Small Business Health Options Program Exchange (SHOP) until January 1, 2015.  The Exchange Board has been dealing with multiple problems associated with the roll-out of the Health Exchange website which has frustrated those attempting to enroll and legislators alike. It is our understanding the small businesses interested in setting up group plans for their employees should work through their brokers this year since the website is unavailable.

This is the third time that the Exchange Board has delayed the SHOP implementation, moving it to January 1, 2014, then back to April 1, 2014. The State Exchange Board is following the lead of the Federal Government which delayed the implementation of the Federal SHOP website until January 2015 earlier this year.

The Chamber will continue to monitor the SHOP implementation and give you updates as to when you will be able to participate in the program.
