MDOT Launches Small Business Enterprise Program

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently launched a new gender and race neutral Small Business Enterprise (SBE) program to provide contracting opportunities for small businesses on federally funded projects with the State Highway Administration, Maryland Transit Administration and Maryland Aviation Administration.

The SBE program seeks to create those opportunities by promoting competition and eliminating obstacles for small businesses to participate in contracts as a prime contractor without competing with larger well established businesses.

In order to be eligible for this program, your firm must be a small business as defined by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Your firm must also meet guidelines related to gross receipts and ownership net worth (more information on eligibility here).

If you are already certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through MDOT, you will be automatically certified as an SBE. All other firms must apply. For more information, click here or contact the Office of Minority Enterprise, at 410-865-1269, mbe@mdot.state.md.us.
