The following Member Spotlight is a summary from the interview with Whitney Harmel, vice president of membership and development at the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and Liz Porter, acting health group president at Leidos, to discuss Leidos’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The full interview is included in the video below.
Leidos has a history of being a community leader, as demonstrated by their CEO pledge which encourages organizations to be part of the fight against opioid addiction. Leidos’ response to the pandemic leverages their position as a major defense service provider, as well as their long-standing relationships and partnerships, and focuses on the following four pillars: health, defense, civil, and intelligence.
Porter discussed the Leidos’ dedication to supporting Maryland’s community during the pandemic. Part of that effort includes the recent partnership with the CDC Foundation’s campaign All of Us where Leidos will match employee donations up to $1 million. As an organization, Leidos prioritizes employee health and wellness.
During this crisis, Leidos has expanded telework capabilities, flexible schedules, and social distancing to protect employees while still meeting customer’s missions. Roger Krone’s video statement on Leidos’ response is available here, which reflects the positive workplace culture of the organization and their mission to make the world safer, healthier, and more efficient.
