The first of several mobile jobs centers Mayor Catherine Pugh talked about on the campaign trail will open today at Mondawmin Mall.
The idea is simple – go to where the people are. The mobile jobs centers will be deployed to communities with higher unemployment rates to help people with resumes, connect residents to training programs and apply for work.
The mobile job center – a 38-foot recreational vehicle – is sponsored by Maryland Chamber member Baltimore Gas and Electric Company and operated by the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
The mobile job centers will be operating throughout the city four days a week and two Saturdays each month. Each targeted community stop will last about four hours.
Pugh plans to add one or two more centers by the end of the year, eventually reaching the goal of seven mobile jobs centers.
