Presiding Officers Name Private Sector Economic Development Commission

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch announced the members of a new private sector commission to focus on the State’s economic development structure and incentive programs. The commission will make recommendations to the presiding officers in December 2014. The commission includes representatives from several Maryland Chamber member organizations, including Mary Ann Scully of Howard Bank who serves on our board of directors.  

The commission will be chaired by Norm Augustine, former President of Lockheed Martin. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on this bipartisan panel to help create jobs and ensure quality lives for all Marylanders,” said Norm Augustine. “The broad charter given to the group is indicative of the commitment to the panel’s work by our state’s leaders.  In today’s highly competitive global marketplace, to stand still is to rapidly fall behind.”
