Purple Line construction gets underway

(Annapolis, MD) After a ceremonial signing of the federal government’s $900 million Full-Funding Grant Agreement with U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao and Gov. Larry Hogan began the demolition for the new Purple Line Operations Center and construction of the Purple Line metro.

Touted as an “important economic driver” for the state, Hogan went on to call the multi-billion dollar project a “big win” for Maryland and a “major benefit” to the National Capital Region.

“It is a shining example of what can be accomplished when our federal, state, county and provate sector partners work together,” Hogan said.
